Space is often associated with stars, planets, and groundbreaking discoveries. The vast universe can seem mysterious, even magical, and at times completely separated from our everyday lives. Yet today, space and the technologies it enables are essential to life here on Earth. As security challenges in the Arctic and the Baltic Sea continue to grow, space technology has rarely been more relevant - from observing vast maritime areas to enabling communication and navigation.
How do you monitor thousands of kilometers of ocean? How do you detect activity in the Arctic? And what role do satellites play when public authorities and the Danish Armed Forces make decisions? These questions - and many more - will be at the heart of the evening's talks.
Through a series of short presentations, you will gain deeper insight into the latest developments in space technology and the current security landscape. Andreas Mogensen will open the event by sharing his experiences from space, followed by Signe Ravn-Højgaard, who will present an overview of the Kingdom of Denmark's satellite infrastructure. Next, Jakob Clod Asmund from the Royal Danish Defence College will explain how the Danish Armed Forces use satellites, navigation, and communications. Finally, representatives from GomSpace, ICEYE, Systematic, and Space Inventor will demonstrate how their space technologies are being applied to defense and security.
