Most of the universe is invisible to us. Stars, planets and galaxies make up only a small fraction of everything that exists. The rest consists of something far more mysterious: dark matter and dark energy. Together, they account for around 95% of the universe – and yet we know remarkably little about what they actually are.
In this fascinating talk, astrophysicist Sofie Marie Koksbang takes you on a journey into the dark side of the universe. We explore the invisible forces that govern the motion of galaxies and drive the accelerating expansion of the cosmos. How do we know that dark matter and dark energy exist if we cannot see them? How were they discovered? And why do they remain among the greatest mysteries of modern physics?
Drawing on the latest research and presented in a clear and engaging way, the talk offers a unique insight into the questions that scientists around the world are still striving to answer.
A talk for anyone curious about the unseen side of the universe – and the mysteries that remain unsolved.
