Guided tour in Tomas Sarcenos 'Cosmic Treads'

Planetarium invites you to explore our spectacular installation Cosmic Threads, created by world-renowned Argentine artist Tomás Saraceno. This magnificent artwork — his first permanent piece in Denmark — transforms our Stairway Gallery into a three-dimensional cosmic web.

During the tour, we delve into the aesthetics and structure of the installation, as well as the astronomical and astrophysical phenomena that inspired it. The focus is on the structure of the universe and the interconnectedness of all things — from the delicate filigree of galaxy networks to the vast cosmic voids that form the backdrop of our existence.

Saraceno’s Cosmic Threads visualizes the universe’s enormous filaments — threads of galaxies and dark matter stretching across billions of light-years. Through stories of star formation, galaxy collisions, and dark matter, you’ll gain insight into how the structure of the universe is inextricably linked to our place within it.
